Cricket is a sport played with a bat and a ball, without physical contact. The game is played between two teams, each with 11 players, basically outdoors on an oval-shaped field, slightly larger than a soccer field.
In the middle of the field there is a playing field, which is called the Pitch, and the main activities of the game take place on this 20-meter-long, 3-meter-wide rectangular-shaped field. The pitcher throws the ball to the batter standing at the other end of the rectangular pitch.
In short, the game is divided into two games. First, one team throws the ball and the other team tries to hit the ball with a bat, getting a “run” (number of runs) by the batter running from the batting end to the other end. Then, the two teams switch places in the second game. When both teams have thrown and hit the ball, the winner is the one who has won the most runs. If the teams are evenly matched, the game ends up being exciting and tense.
The Art of Cricket
In his book, Ashis Nandy writes that cricket is an Indian sporting game that was discovered by the British inadvertently. Cricket is an extremely complex and subtle sport, very fluid, but with a series of sudden moves from time to time. Cricket is strategic and tactical and is a sport of collective energy, skill, concentration, mental toughness and teamwork.
Cricket has a strong and unique cultural heritage that no other sport has. Having said that, you don’t have to be physically present to truly appreciate the sport, or the culture associated with it. A lot of people really like the sport, but they don’t play it themselves.
Cricket is a diplomatic game, but it’s also an exciting sport. Whether you’re a player or a spectator, the sport teaches us a lot about life and relationships, which is one of the reasons why it’s such a popular sport.
It’s not about winning or losing, it’s about how you play!
The game of cricket requires honesty and integrity, moderation, but also self-respect and discipline. The reason for this is simple: you will win and you will lose. Aside from these aspects that make people stand in awe when talking about cricket, cricket is actually a game that is a lot of fun to play.
Players can be as young as 6 years old or as old as 60 years old, and there is plenty of fun for all ages. One of the great things about cricket is that you can make friends while playing, watching and talking about the game. There is a song from the West Indies that says, “I don’t like cricket, I love cricket!” It speaks to hundreds of millions of people around the world about this great sport.
