Shafali Verma is the leading run scorer for India in the Women’s T20I World Cup in Australia. With a record of 163 runs in five matches, she has set herself on a course to become the best of all time.
Shafali started playing cricket at the age of 8. She trained under her father, Sanjeev Verma, for the first three years. She was spotted by Veda Krishnamurthy, a former Indian female cricketer. She was then a part of the Sixer Women team.
She represented India in the ODI Women’s World Cup in 2013. She played her first T20I against South Africa in Surat in 2019. She had been expected to make it to the senior women’s squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in February. But she failed to take her chances.
